Hattifant’s Best Friends to Sew – Kitty, Polar Bear and Owl
We are STUFFED! And sooo happy how they turned out! Aren’t they cute – these little stuffed animals?
We were looking for a special little gift for my Hattifant staff’s BFF’s. Yes, we are moving! We have lived here for almost 6 years and it is hard to say goodbye. So we needed something very very special.
So we came up with these little fellows that can carry little messages inside their pockets. Please say hello to Kitty, Mr. Polar Bear and Owlsome Owl.
And they are really quite easy to make. Me making this statement not sewing very much at all and hence looking for something that could work for me as a total beginner in this craft.

HOW TO:
So let me show you how I made them:
- I used a square cotton towel we never use (hence newish just sitting on the shelf) and folded it halfway.
- The I drew Kitty, Bear and Owl with a pencil on to the fabric. Always reminding myself “easy patterns”!!! 🙂
- I attached a couple of safety needles so that the top and back part of the fabric couldn’t move around while cutting and cut around the drawing with appr. 1cm of space. Where I was drawing I also wanted to sew.
- I wanted to create a little pocket for the little ones to put in messages for their friends. They chose their favorite fabric and I then measured width and length simply by holding it on to the (white) cotton fabric of the animal.
- I folded the ends of the pocket to be over twice and sew them shut with a simple stitch.
- Now it was time to attach the patterned fabric to the animal. I opened up the teddy fabric and added the patterned fabric where I wanted it to be on the teddy.
- I folded it again with the patterned fabirc in place in order to sew the teddy.
- Almost there… I sew the teddy with leaving about 5cm of room to turn the fabric inside out afterwards and to be able to fill the teddy with stuffing.
- Before stuffing the bear though I added the face. Really simple features – still very cute though! 🙂 I used a fabric marker as I was unsure how a Sharpie or other permanent marker would fare.
- Time to stuff the bear and put him in shape!
- And HURRAY… there he is in all his cuteness!
And here are all the three cuties!
Needless to say they were a HUGE success and I have now orders for quite a few more. Lol.
But hey lets take it easy shall we… back to drawing!!! ^_^
